Virtual Film Night

Wednesday 27 January 2021

To kick off the Artwalk 2021 programme we hosted our very first virtual film night, produced a collaborative film and put together a brilliant list of recommended films by The Art House staff.

Through an online open-call out we received applications from filmmakers and creatives across the region. Films ranged from short music videos to soundscapes, dance performances to dramas and everything in between.

On our website we listed all of the 30 films for the public to enjoy at their leisure. You can see the original listings page here and enjoy the films.  We also shared these across our social media platforms so the films could be accessed by as many people as possible.

Our collaborative film 'Light in Dark Times' collated short video clips submitted from residents in the Wakefield area through an open call. At a time when we were all under a national lockdown and trying to get through the dark month of January, this gave some creative inspiration and allowed us to connect with one another whilst we were unable to physically. You can watch the video below.

Thank you to the filmmakers and organisations who shared their films - Andrew Little, Bev Adams, CAPA College, Charlie Wells, Christine O'Leary, Clare West, Dave Hanvey, dee parker, Dream Time Creative, Gemma Stephens, Greg Spencer, Harriet Lawson, Johnny Carr, Long Division, Mafwa Theatre, Mark Ratcliffe and Paul Bateson, Now Serving, ODAS, One to One Development Trust, Roo Veeren, Stacey Colclough, The Art House, The Hepworth Wakefield, Wakefield College, Wakefield Lit Fest, Yorkshire Sculpture International and Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
