Artwalk Wakefield
Wednesday 26 May 2021
Wakefield venues opened their doors for the first ‘in real life’ Artwalk in over a year on 26th May 2021.
Artwalk Wakefield welcomed visitors back to celebrate its first ‘in real life’ event in over a year with a small collection of exhibitions and events in venues around the city centre. Taking place on Wednesday 26 May, 17:00 – 21:00, we showcased local talent and celebrated the cultural life of Wakefield, with live music, artwork and interactive exhibitions.
Visitors on the night had the opportunity to join The Merrie Collective for some collaborative conversation and making in The Ridings Shopping Centre, saw neon fireworks and rooftop art installations by Wakefield based artist Richard Wheater and enjoyed live music in the Boogie Woogie Bagel Bar. Visitors were also encouraged to make their own Wakefield poster at The Art House, inspired by Ellie Way's Wakefield Travel poster collection, turn their hand to stitching at 2SureThreads and share messages of positivity at Wakefield Cathedral through the Postcards From Wakefield project.
